Feeding and Milling – 7. Record Keeping

This course is part of the Fundamentals of Feedlot Nutrition, Feeding and Milling Operations online skills training.  

Being part of the feeding and milling team at your feedlot, you and your team are responsible for accurately capturing and depending on your role, analysing those records. Feedlots maintain records that hold critical information for making the feedlot efficient, safe and to produce optimum feed.

This online course covers the basics in why it is important to accurately record and analyse data, the key areas within the feeding and milling process and how that data is used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the feeding and milling procedures.

This E-learning series has been by funded grain-fed levies and matching federal government R&D contributions in consultation with the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association.

Learning outcomes and competencies
By the end of this course, you will know how to: 

  • By valuing and taking the time to maintain accurate records, you are playing your part in ensuring your feedlot has the information it needs to run efficiently.
  • Knowing how and when to perform accurate record keeping ensures your feedlot can analyse feeding and milling data, to determine where and how the team could work to improve practices. This all ensures the feedlot can provide healthy, nutritional feed that produces top performing cattle.
  • Understanding the data that is captured and how it’s analysed makes you even better equipped to work towards achieving the optimum performance from the feeding and milling team, and ensures the health and productivity of the cattle and your feedlot.

Training Location and Delivery method

Online Training course, delivered via the Feedlot TECH Training Hub. Approximately 1 hour in length.
