This course is part of the Fundamentals of Pen Riding online skills training.
Explore the fundamental principles of pen riding in this online course, and discover how to prioritise cattle health and wellbeing, effectively identify issues and use low-stress handling techniques to positively influence welfare outcomes for the cattle at your feedlot.

After completion of the online training, an on the ground competency assessment is available so you can demonstrate your skills and competency in this area.
This E-learning series has been by funded grain-fed levies and matching federal government R&D contributions in consultation with the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association.
Learning outcomes and competencies
By the end of this course, you will know how to:
- Apply basic pen riding principles
- Prioritise animal health and wellbeing
- Recognise common health issues in relation to days on feed
- Identify animals that are at greater risk of health issues
- Use good stockmanship techniques

Online Training course, delivered via the Feedlot TECH Training Hub. Approximately 1 hour in length.
