Control Weeds

The Control Weeds program has been developed in response to demand from workers in agriculture, horticulture and land management who are required to carry out the control of weed infestations. The course explains how to combine cultural, biological and chemical methods to provide effective, economical control of weeds while minimising damage to the environment.

Completion of Control Weeds, along with a ChemCert AQF-3 Chemical Accreditation course, is required to obtain an ACDC (Commercial Operators) licence in Queensland.

Units Achieved

Completing the Control Weeds Accreditation enables the student to obtain the unit:

  • AHCPMG301 Control Weeds

  • Identify a range of weeds and beneficial organisms
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment
  • Apply a range of weed control methods and maintain records
  • Plan and coordinate weed control activities
  • Conduct a site hazard indication and risk control assessment
  • Monitor, record and report the effectiveness of controls

 

Pre-requisites

Over 16 years old and have at least yr10 level English reading level. Students are required to have obtained the AQF-3 units (AHCCHM303 Prepare and Apply Chemicals and AHCCHM304 Transport and Store Chemicals or AHCCHM304 Transport and Store Chemicals and AHCCHM307 Prepare and Apply Chemicals to Control Pest, Weeds and Diseases).
