Livestock Handling – 6. Chain of Responsibility

This course is part of the Fundamentals of Livestock Handling online skills training.  

Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation has been designed to improve safety across the transport supply chain.

Everyone involved in transport activities, from the business that employs the driver to the place where goods are delivered, has a responsibility to ensure safety, in line with road transport laws.

This online course covers the basics in getting to the Chain of Responsibility legislation and your responsibilities within the transport chain.

After completion of the online training, an on the ground competency assessment is available so you can demonstrate your skills and competency in this area.

This E-learning series has been by funded grain-fed levies and matching federal government R&D contributions in consultation with the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association.

Learning outcomes and competencies
By the end of this course, you will know how to: 

  • Recognise the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Law
  • Identify parties in the transport supply chain
  • Recognise a feedlot’s primary duty obligations under the law and penalties for breaches
  • Recognise parties in the transport process.
  • Identify the risks that can impact transport activities for a feedlot and actions that can influence or control safe work actions.
  • Recognise your responsibilities and how you can support your feedlot to meet their CoR obligations.
  • Identify state-controlled rules and regulations.
  • Identify key planning aspects and challenges.
  • Apply practical strategies to reduce safety risks.
  • Recognise strategies to deal with conflict.

Training Location and Delivery method

Online Training course, delivered via the Feedlot TECH Training Hub. Approximately 1 hour in length.

Free to all feedlots, employees and industry associated individuals.
