ABOUT US

Yarranbrook Feedlot is a specialist beef cattle lot-feeding, backgrounding, and irrigated farming operation based in the heart of the Queensland’s Border Rivers area. Located close to Inglewood, the feedlot’s strategic location and well-appointed infrastructure accommodates both short and long-fed cattle programs to service a combination of markets.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Supervisor (Feeding & Milling) you will be responsible for directing all feeding and milling activities at the Yarranbrook Feedlot and leading the small close-knit team to support optimal cattle welfare and performance at all times. This will require you to

  • Supervise and monitor the performance of all Yarranbrook Feeding and Milling employees as well as directing and scheduling their activities whilst striving for harmony and teamwork within the team, and with other Mort & Co departments, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skills to perform required activities
  • Participate in capital expenditure budgeting, construction and implementation of capital projects, overhead budget formulation, and maintain an awareness of budget expenditure
    Provide appropriate training in feeding and milling operations, maintaining detailed internal procedures for programs and activities, to ensure staff understand the importance, requirements and expectations of the feeding and milling function
  • Ensure that all operations are performed safely and efficiently, the health and welfare of livestock is prioritised, and programs are maintained to ensure safe work practices in compliance with company policy and procedure, industry regulations and legislative requirements
  • Support the team in carrying daily feeding and milling activities such as operating mills, feed allocation, data analysis, and feed truck & heavy equipment operation

 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in feeding and milling operations including skills in animal nutrition and feed manufacturing as well as substantial experience in operating complex feeding and milling specific machinery. You will also bring:

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and supervise teams.
  • Strong focus on following and enforcing Workplace Health and Safety and environmental requirements.
  • Good judgement and the ability to make timely practical and effective decisions.
  • Advanced organisational, record keeping and data processing skills.
