The JBS Mungindi Feedlot is strategically located on the Queensland and New South Wales border, 132km west of Goondiwindi in a prime grain, cotton and livestock production area. The feedlot is licensed to carry 22,400 head and feeds all breeds of cattle, including Bos indicus, British and European as well program specific breeds.

 

The Mungindi team of approximately 16 employees live locally in the small rural community minded townships of Mungindi and Talwood, and are responsible for all feedlot operations.

About the Role

JBS Australia’s Mungindi Feedlot are currently seeking a reliable Pen Rider to join our Animal Health team on a full-time basis. We are looking for passionate horse riders and cattle handlers who are skilled in, or wish to further develop their horsemanship, cattle handling, livestock diagnosis and treatment skills. Working in a team environment you will be responsible for cattle health and wellbeing across the feedlot.

 

Roster: 10 days on /4 days off = 7.6 hours shifts + overtime when required

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

Daily livestock handling including pen riding and stock movements
Diagnosis of animal health symptoms
Administration of animal health treatments
Data input and maintenance of animal treatments and stock movements
Upholding cattle hygiene
Compliance with all JBS Australia policies including: WHS, HR, Quality Assurance and Environmental obligations

 

About You

Proven horsemanship skills; and/or previous livestock handling experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills
Strong commitment to animal welfare, health and nutrition
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Ability and willingness to learn
Ability to work an allocated roster

 

For Pen Riders a minimum of 2 x horses, up to 4 x horses are allowed on site (must be pre-vaccinated in accordance with the JBS Australia Hendra Virus Management Program).
