The JBS Beef City Feedlot is part of the integrated Beef City facility consisting of farming, feedlot and processing operations. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress, carbon emissions and transportation costs while simultaneously improving eating quality. Ideally located in the prime grain and cattle producing region of the Darling Downs, 35km west of Toowoomba, the 26,500 head capacity feedlot has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers, and employs approximately 50 team members.

About the Role

The JBS Beef City Feedlot is currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Hand to join the team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be required to perform tasks such as preventative maintenance, general repairs and cleaning. You will be responsible for executing planned and unplanned works to our mobile equipment, fixed plant (Mill) and cattle pens (fences, gates). This role is best suited to someone who is motivated, reliable, has good safety awareness and great communication skills.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

Carrying out general maintenance tasks and fault finding
Erecting steel yard fencing including setting fence posts in concrete, welding and running fencing cables
Repairing and maintaining steel yard fencing
Repairing and maintaining plumbing and pumping systems
Carrying out basic concrete works and repairs
Liaising and working with contractors and suppliers
Working safely to prevent injuries and lost time
Additional tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Feedlot Manager

 

About You

Previous experience working in a similar maintenance role
Proven experience in yard building
Proven experience in plumbing and pump repairs
Proven experience in laying concrete
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
Sound communication and interpersonal skills
Sound understanding and knowledge of safe work practices
Previous plant and machinery operation experience advantageous
A rural background and understanding of livestock is desirable
